The new season is coming very soon, it's time to make sewing plans. We suggest doing this with a focus on current trends and a new summer collection of GRASSER patterns. We have collected 15 trends that can be repeated according to our patterns in this article.

1. MINI SHORTS

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY.jpg

The lengths were divided – this is how we can characterize what we are currently seeing on the catwalks. Two alternative trends – mini and maxi – get along very harmoniously side by side, and all because designers hint to us: if mini, then shorts, if maxi, then skirts or dresses. This is very convenient because short shorts are devoid of all the disadvantages of mini-skirts but at the same time you can wear them anywhere and with anything: with a T-shirt, blouse, jacket or bandeau top.

We offer 2 ways of shortened shorts which were immediately supplemented with patterns of the GRASSER top No.1039 and blouse No.1037: a calm, restrained tone of the red set "against" the bold and relaxed white with an emphasis on briefcase pockets and ties.

2. OVERALLS

The jumpsuit is a favorite at the latest fashion shows spring–summer 2023. More often, it embodies convenience and ease of movement: a loose, slightly fitted silhouette, a lot of decorative and functional elements. The visible urbanism of the jumpsuit does not prevent you from wearing it with high heels, as suggested, for example, by Stella McCartney and Chanel. This is a new style of femininity which is expressed in contrasts.

We decided to go further and make a family look out of two jumpsuits: women's GRASSER No.1020 and men's No.1040. They look very similar but they are not unisex models, since they take into account the difference in the anatomical features of the structure of the figures, so you can be calm for the landing. Our jumpsuits are made of denim, although the choice of material can be huge: from fine linen to dense cotton with impregnation.

3. SUNDRESSES

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (4).jpg

Summer and sundresses are quite a familiar combination. Bright prints, light shades, midi or maxi length – these are the main rules of a modern sundress. If we add a few more trending constructive accents to them, then we will get the perfect thing for every day.

When creating a summer series of patterns, we have developed 5 variants of sundresses: fitted and loose, open and not so, basic office and extraordinary with asymmetry, pockets and cords.

4. CROPPED JACKET

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (6).jpg

The fit of skirts and trousers rushes down, and the length of jackets rushes up. Here, designers maintain restraint, using simple classic shapes and moderate volume, carefully adding trendy solutions, such as pockets or asymmetry, like Alexander McQueen.

This jacket will be a logical addition to the basic suit. For our shooting, we styled a jacket according to the GRASSER pattern No.1017 with a sundress No.1019 and a skirt No.1018. You can be inspired by a selection from our article and sew it into a pair of mini-shorts GRASSER No.1044, as Chanel or Moschino do.

5. TOP BANDO

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (8).jpg

The bandeau top is the perfect companion for low–rise products, although Valentino and Christian Dior demonstrate to us that this is not necessary at all. Made of the same fabric as the bottom it forms a complete summer look.

In our interpretation this is a top with thin straps with two overhead valves on the front of the GRASSER No.1026. Beginners in sewing will appreciate this pattern definitely because the process will not take much time. In addition, only half a meter of fabric will be needed for sewing, so now you can sew one bandeau top to each skirt, trousers or shorts, even from the remnants.

6. CORSET

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (10).jpg

The theme of underwear style is continued by corsets which have already become almost a base and even a summer alternative to a jacket. Those who are still afraid of appearing "vulgar" can wear it over a top, T-shirt, blouse or dress.

This summer we couldn't get past the corset. The GRASSER pattern No.1042 conquers with its unusual design with a curly bottom, which helps to wear such a corset tucked into trousers.

7. RED

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (12).jpg

Summer is the time to be bright and the main color of the year hints to us about it. Monochrome combinations in the style of total red attract the eyes. The most important advantage of this color is that even simple things will look spectacular.

For example, you can sew mini GRASSER shorts No.1044 and a GRASSER top No.1039 or a dress with GRASSER ties No.1031, as we did.

8. ASYMMETRY

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (14).jpg

Any thing ceases to be banal as soon as an asymmetry appears, even barely noticeable, like Boss. In almost every collection, designers focus on it, which means that the trend is entering its active phase. Today it's not just different skirt lengths but also bolder solutions, for example, asymmetrical lapels, collars, sleeves, prints.

GRASSER overalls No.1020 and No.1040: asymmetric entrances to pockets;

sundress No.1036 – asymmetrical bottom line;

dress No.1021 – asymmetric button closure;

combination dress No.1030 – asymmetrical topline

We also decided to fantasize adding a twist to some summer patterns. By the way, here sewing has an important advantage. Those who do not like asymmetry and want to abandon it, can simply choose the option of the paired part that they like best.

9. DROPPED SLEEVES

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (16).jpg

The best way to emphasize your sexuality is to open your shoulders. We agree with modern designers with it. At the spring-summer 2023 shows, almost every third dress or even suit shows bare shoulders. It looks casual and totally summery.

In support of this trend, we have prepared a special pattern that cannot be bought on the website, as it will be published as part of our first printed magazine for the anniversary of GRASSER – an elongated blouse with lowered sleeves.

10. TIES

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (18).jpg

Lacing and ties are a trendy way to emphasize the waist or create the desired silhouette. The longer and more noticeable the cords are, the better.

We used this idea to make loose-fitting products more fitting and feminine. For example, the cords in the shoulder and waist area define the shape of the GRASSER dress No.1031, in the GRASSER blouse No.1037 they form a flirty assembly along the lines of the neck and bottom of the sleeves, and in the GRASSER dress No.1027 they highlight the waist.

Continuation of trends from the spring collection

Speaking about the main trends for the summer season, of course, we must not forget that the already familiar trends of spring 2023 which we talked about in this article, remain with us.

We suggest looking at them through the prism of a summer series of patterns.

11. MAXI LENGHT

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (20).jpg

We continue to adhere to this trend, among the new patterns there are two dresses and one maxi-length sundress.

12. POCKETS

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (22).jpg

Designers are experimenting on the topic of pockets changing their direction, shape and even making them part of an ordinary belt. We also became bolder and added a lot of pockets for patterns of summer models, even in unusual places.

13. ZIPPERS

   SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (24).jpg

Zippers as a decorative element or a central fastener in the product look very impressive, so we are happy to use them in new patterns.

14. LOW FIT

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (27).jpg

The low fit remains the basic design solution for all waist products. GRASSER shorts No.1044, No.1038 and skirt No.1018 were made with a lowered waistline but at the same time we provided a wide variety of tops for those who do not want to open their stomach: GRASSER vests No.1025 and No.1028, blouses No.1022 and No.1037, top No.1039, corset No.1042.

15. TOTAL DENIM

SOURSCE VOGUE RUNWAY (28).jpg

Denim does not give up its position in the summer season. For our shooting we sewed a lot of products from this material: GRASSER corset No.1042, vest No.1028, two GRASSER overalls No.1020 and No.1040, trousers according to pattern No.969 from the winter 2022/2023 collection. As a result, it turned out effectively, but this is not the limit. Denim is suitable for almost every pattern, so you can give free rein to your imagination.
